the challenge
the mur has launched a national competition for research and development teams for new projects on the topic of “smart cities and communities”.

the solution
from previous partnerships and collaborations, in particular with the polytechnic of turin and telecom italia, the s[m2]art research and development project was born, which looks at the city metre by metre as a formula for participation in the competition.
The aim of the project is to rethink the city by looking at the physical-digital, inclusive and proximity services that can populate a square metre of public space or a little more, studying the relationship of reciprocal conditioning between society and technologies, in order to develop new strategies and thus redesign new micro-infrastructures and urban hubs. the project and its group of partners, led by telecom italia, was selected by the mur as one of the winners of the competition and authorised for a budget of 12 million euros.
