the ministry for education, universities and research launched a national competition for research and development groups on the topic of “smart cities and communities”
the solution
the s[m2]art research and development project, which looks at the city meter by meter and was developed from previous partnerships and cooperation initiatives, particularly with the polytechnic of turin and telecom italia, participated in the competition.
the project aims at rethinking the city starting from physical-digital, inclusive and proximity services which can populate one square meter of public space. It explores the way society and technologies mutually influence each other, with the goal of developing new strategies and redesigning new micro-infrastructures and urban hubs. the project and its group of partners, led by telecom italia, was selected by the ministry as one of the winners of the competition and was authorized for a budget of 12 million euro
